Learning JP #04 - Trying out Anki
Today's post is gonna be shorter than yesterday's, because it is a bit late as I type this.
Today I did a lot of things, yet the study session didn't feel as long or slow as it has on other days.
First of all, as always, I did my 10-minute Kana practice, today I only practiced Hiragana, with their variations and combinations, just to see how I'm doing, and I scored 163/175. I’ll be honest, I think I could have easily scored 100%, but the site marks your answer as wrong as soon as it detects the wrong letter has been entered into the text box, so those 12 mistakes were typos, which are common as the idea is to go as fast as you can.
Tomorrow, I'll go back to practicing all the Kanas, and on Sunday I may have an extra Katakana practice session, because I'm still struggling with them!!
I watched 3 more Cure Dolly lessons today, and while I won't post pictures nor go into detail like yesterday, a summary of what I learned would be:
Past, present, and future tense
Sentences with relative and absolute times
Verb groups (Ichidan, Godan, and Irregular)
In-depth analysis of Godan (Five groups)
Adjective variations and how to apply them in sentences
Possessive particle
Today, I learned a LOT with Cure Dolly! I'll make sure to review my notes before starting tomorrow's session, just in case!
And the star of the day was everyone's favorite flashcard tool... Anki!!
I studied 20 words using the Kaishi 1.5k deck, which is the one recommended by the "30 Day Japanese" routine I'm following. I only struggled with a couple of words: 勉強 (study), 彼(he,him), and 本(hon). I could recognize them, but kept forgetting how to read them.
Even though I took it slow, I only spent 24 minutes with Anki. I'm expecting that number to go up to 60 after some days, when words start becoming either more difficult, or too many (due to Anki bringing them back to see if you remember them).
